GIS: A Beginning Course for
Crime Analysis - ArcView 3.X

This course is designed to provide the basics of operating ArcView 3.X. The five main sections include: project elements, view properties, X,Y coordinates, basic geocoding and basic layout techniques. Students will be introduced to the software using law enforcement examples.

Topics: opening a project, creating a project, displaying geographic data, views, tables, layouts, adding data, the natural order of themes, view properties, map/distance units, map projections (basics), backgrounds, colors, bringing in x,y data, finding x,y points, adding new x,y points, basic geocoding to streets and parcels, geocoding properties, interpreting unmatched addresses, layout properties, layout page setup, layout elements.

Tuition: Tuition for this course is $395 and must be paid in advance to secure a place in the class. Tuition includes instruction, materials and a $50 nonrefundable data processing fee.

Requirements: The student is not required to have experience with ArcView. Each student should bring a pencil or pen to assist with the workbook exercises.

This course is one of our oldest and dearest courses, but will no longer be offered except via hosting, sponsorship or private training. The majority of our clients are using ArcGIS 8 or 9 at this point in time. If you are using ArcView 3.X, let us know and maybe we can find a way to bring this training to your area.
